Child abuse and neglect are all too common in society. Each year there are six million reports of suspected abuse and neglect made to child protective services in America alone. Of these, almost 900,000 cases are substantiated. Everyone working in health care and human service has a responsibility to be aware of this continuing problem.

The three-part series, Recognizing Child Abuse, is designed to inform those providing care and service to others and how to recognize the signs of child abuse and what actions they need to take if abuse is suspected. The three parts of this series are 1)Physical Abuse, 2) Neglect and Emotional Abuse, and 3)Sexual Abuse.
