Narrated by Charlton Heston, this documentary goes on operations with the 7th Division as they come to terms with the mission that lies ahead of them. It explains the reasons for US involvement in a war so far from their home borders and what they aim to achieve through both military and civil action.

When the 25th Infantry Division arrived in Vietnam in 1966 their mission was like none they had experienced before. The men of "Tropic Lightning" soon realised that fighting the enemy was only part of their objective and off the battlefield their was another task to be fulfilled - rebuilding a nation and helping those unwilling victims of the conflict.
